The cross-border micro-credentials use case “The EU.ACE Chain (EU–CH)”, submitted by SAPIO, was one of 24 finalists selected from 99 submissions in 29 countries, in the Global Collaboration category.

The FIDES Global Digital Trust Community Awards 2026 selected 24 finalists from 99 submissions involving more than 200 organisations in 29 countries. “Cross-Border Micro-Credentials: The EU.ACE Chain (EU–CH)”, the use case submitted by SAPIO, was a finalist in the Global Collaboration category.

The finalists are documented in the FIDES report “Digital Trust in Practice 2026”, published on 21 September 2026. In the words of the jury, the EU.ACE Chain is “a concrete example of cross-border educational credential interoperability between Switzerland and the EU”.

In the use case, universities issue structured learning achievements to a wallet chosen by the learner, and another institution or employer verifies them directly, while the original university remains the issuer.
