SAPIO credentials in swiyu, the Swiss wallet.
On 5 October 2026 SAPIO issued its first verifiable credential to the swiyu wallet, in the sandbox environment of the Swiss Confederation. The credential was received on a phone, next to where the state e-ID will live, from an issuer identity that belongs to SAPIO.

Why it matters for Swiss institutions
One wallet for identity and certificates
Learners will keep their e-ID and their certificates in the same federal app. A school that issues to swiyu reaches them where they already are.
The institution stays the issuer
Each school or training provider can appear under its own verified identity. SAPIO runs the issuing infrastructure behind it.
Swiss and European at once
swiyu uses the same open standards as the EU Digital Identity Wallet, so a credential designed once can serve both.
